What Happens People of Myth when they come back to modern time

The Case of Charles Dexter Ward

The Case of Charles Dexter Ward is an interesting tale of when someone with a horrible legacy and known for back magic and necromancy, comes back to a life of sorts in 1912. The first part of the book is about how Charles learns about his heritage and starts to change and slowly becomes his great grandfather. But not in a metaphorical sense but like actual his grandfather takes over his mind and body. This effects not only himself but his family as they noticed the change and placed him into a psych ward. The book is a flashback of the mother and father interacted with there son as they flashback to before he becomes completely consumed by his ancient grandfather.

Overall it is a very well written and gripping tale that leaves the reader on the edge of there seat the whole way through. My favorite character is Charles himself and it is interesting to learn about what he he discovers about his great grandfather and Charles descent into madness as his grandfather's soul slowly takes over his mind and body.   Thos it later revels that the grandfather did not take over his body but built him a new one, and then killed his grandson in hopes to stop him from going to the authorities. The book ends with the doctor finding out and killing the grandfather by use witchcraft that Charles ghosts had given him.

Overall The Case of Charles Dexter Ward is about what happens when a mythic and evil man comes back from the past to try and finish what he has started. I had listened to the pay adaption by dark adventure theater, which like all of there adaptions is amazing! They are by far the best audiobook company in their way of handling each book like a radio play, with high-quality voice actor a soundtrack and overall just interesting tales, on my flight to Eire over spring break to visit my ill grandfather I had purchased and listened to most of there collection, and this tale is one of my favorite.

  1. This sounds like an absolutely wild story! I would love to see how exactly it's written because I could see how this could easily be and confusing story to read. Your suggestion to listen to an adaptation of it is great idea!
