Hitchhiker's Guide to the universe

Hitchhiker's Guide to the universe

Hitchhiker's Guide to the universe is a cynical parody of bureaucracy that makes fun of things that we as humans hold dear and questions we view in high regarded, Between the parallels to the main character house being knocked down by the government, with the aliens reaction to the humans freaking out about them blowing up there planet. To the answer of life being 42, to all of the value we put on little green paper. A lot of what Hitchhiker's Guide to the universe mocks still holds true today. Hell even the point where Arthur is upset with Ford because human are list as 'harmless' in the guid, and Ford Responds with saying that humans are not important and there are hundreds of thousand other creature in the universe.  It's a really interesting concept and Fords right there are most likely billions of other life forms in the universe, humans are not even a blip on these other creatures radars.  And why on earth would they brother to abduct some crazy red neck from god knows where and prob his brain. why would they waste that much time and effort for such a unless and un-need task, what would a technologically advanced alien race gain from putting a metal rod up a rednecks ass? Why do we as the human races think we are that important, the universe is immeasurable huge and constantly growing and explaining we are nothing to other life forms.

Also the concept of the galactic president is so freaking true, how he's there as a distraction and doesn't hold any power, he's just thought to be the one who holds it. This is also the same with the rest of the galactic government, they don't actually hold power and old 6 people in the whole universe know who really do. I think this is so true, and I can't help comparing it to the political claimant of today, we have an outrageous Orange as a president that does nothing but bail out himself and his buddies, our government can not do anything due to lobbyist with lots of money pulling the strings, you can't tell me that doesn't have an effect when organizations like the nra  stonewall bills that make getting a gun slightly more complicated to get and the salvation army tried to pay off the president to get an exception in 2001 so that they could discriminate against people of other religions and the lgbtq. The power is not actually held by political leaders but the business that pay them absorbent amounts of money to do whatever they want.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the universe nailed it, the whole time I was reading it I couldn't help agreeing with the authors sentiments, the world is full of self righteous people that think the world revolves around them and it's run by large corporation paying pennies to get what they want to improve there bottom line, and we are expected to stay calm and watch as the world around us burns.
