Harry Potter The Being Of The End

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
Harry Potter is one of the most well know books of my generation, it has transcended the 'nerd' or 'geek culture' and is considered pop culture. Harry Potter references are in everything now of days from offhand comments on what house your in on Brooklin 99 to shitty internet memes. It also has had a profound impact on modern-day stories of fantasy and magic. This can be seen in movies like Halloween Town and Ever After high. This idea of special kids being chosen and having these magical powers that they have to discover and learn to control. And I hate it! This may also be an over-arching issue with how fantasy creatures like Elves, Dwarfs, Nobes, and Orcs are handled in these "modern-day fantasy" which is sloppily and incredibly overdone. Harry  Potter is one of the main contributors to this and if looking past it mess of an author, ti is by far not my favorite series. I have never read or watched a good modern fantasy movie or book, they are all trying to fit in this fun fantasy world like harry potter, and don't get me started on the handling of orcs.

One of the best and worst examples of this is bright. I will say this once and only one STOP USING ORCS AS THE METIFOR FOR RACISM.  Orcs are violent races that believes in power thru war and this is ok to compare black people to!!!!! Orcs are Handel so interestingly in every form of old fantasy I've read/played/and watch and then modern they shit all over everything that makes there races great to compare them to the systemic racism of African Americans. If anything Orcs is slavers and has been known to capture other races and use and abuse them.
