The Wild Sheep Chase

The Wild Sheep Chase is a really good book, however the whole time I had one question, Why is the character putting up with all this odd shit? Like the girl with the ears, when they had their first date mentions how she killed her ears? The minute normal person heard her say that they would have politely dipped, fearing for there life. But instead he not only stays but sleeps with her. And that’s just the being of the weirdness, he is later commissioned by a scary mob’s second hand man, which the main character  believes to be gay, to find a sheep with a star on its back. 

  

Turns out, this is some weird yoki, kinda like a parasitic venom esk character, that must live inside a host to gain power and survive, it also has this plot going to take over the world? Or maybe Japan? It's never really  clear his end goal besides gaining power, tho it is stated that he has a host with an army. And in the book the main character interacts with a man that's mind had been eaten, because he meet the sheep and allowed it to live inside of him. I'm sorry but if I was in his postion and a crazy old man that has my only connection to the sheep, said that he let it inside him, and told me the horrible stuff it did, I would have booked it. 

There are So many red flags in this story that the main protagonist just looks past or completely injorns. Like the sheep man... WHAT ON GOD GREEN EARTH IS THAT THING. It's a strange man that lives on the mountain and smokes and drinks? Like some weird sheep cryptic that caries a bell on its back to ward off beards. The name character is fine with its, I would have booked it far before getting to this point.  Like seriously  the decried it's skin black and almost dead. The his friend who has died takes its form, and the main character knew so he destroyed 'The Rats' to prove that he knew that he was impersonating the sheepman.

Overall The book is nuts and the main character puts up with far more than anyone has a right to.  There are many point in the story which caused me to question the reader reliability and sanity, so many odd things where said and done, the worst part was that I loved every moment of it, it was so good and the sheepman and his mystery are my favorite person. I could read a whole another story just about him as they unwrap his mystery, what bad creatures on the mountain was he hiding from? Where they like him? Did it know the rat prior to the sheep consuming him?Why did the Sheepman burry the rat? Why did he help the main character? There are just so many questions about him left unanswered, and I love and hate that about him. 

In conclusion The Wild Sheep chase is a, wild story with a weird main character that goes with the flow. It is technically a murder mystery, tho the murder doesn't come into play until the very end. there is an underlying sense of mythical malice through out the story. It's and engaging and easy read that has the reader confused and excited as to what will come next and how the mystery will unfold. A definite recommendations from me.
